Shutter Exercise

Shutter Exercise

For this exercise we were sent out with a camera and told to alter the shutter speed and take 4 photos using a different shutter speed each time. One of these was to be a high shutter speed, the other a low shutter speed and then the other two were to be around the middle.

What we found is that when the shutter speed was low it caused the picture to have motion blur on it as the object that we were taking a photo of moved. The higher the shutter speed the more crisp the image looked and had no motion blur.

Below is the photos we took and there corresponding shutter speed below it.

Aperture Exercise

Photos from aperture exercise
This exercise was to show how aperture has a effect on a image, aperture can be used in conjunction with shutter speed and iso to expose a image properly but is also used to create a DOF or depth of feild, this is how much of a image is in focus.

The higher the F number the less light is let through the lens and also the more the image is in focus, the lower the f number the more light that is allowed though and also the less amount of light is let through the lens.

Lenses can range between what there maximum aperture is more expensive lenses are able to get down to lower F stops sutch as F/1.8 this allows them to work in darker conditions without the need of flash, it also allows photographers to create stunning depth of field effects.

Here are some of my images from the test.

Wide and Close up

Using Different Angles

After having a lesson on the rule of thirds and composition we were instructed to go out and take photos using either wide angles shots or using close up shots. This was to improve our understanding of how we can change a photo completely by using these different angles.

This shot i like because of the interesting angle in it. This was one of my wide shots and was taken kneeling down to fit all of the church bell tower in the frame.

This shot i used the rule of thirds to make the photo interesting, i put the rails in the far left of my frame this made it so then it looked as if the rails carried straight on for ages but really there was a corner before this shot.

The 2 images above are a good example of how a image can be totally changed by a close up and a wide angle, the wide angle has all of the park in while when i went to the fence i zoomed in on the fence to show only the fence and nothing else.

This image is a example of how close ups can be used with depth of field, here we have the front and closed part to the camera in focus while the background is blurred.

Photos taken in my spare time

Photos taken in my spare time
All of these photos were taken in my spare time out of college, they show what i have achieved by putting into practise what i have learnt on the course. As well as these these is also my flickr link (http://www.flickr.com/photos/46635024@N07/) on here i have just put up any images i am proud of or people have asked to see.

These have not been taken for the course but more for personal enjoyment.
